Public Green Space Survey
We are running a public green space survey to gain insight into use and views on local green spaces.
The deadline for feedback is Monday 22 August 2022.
We want to support communities in 97色网 leading healthy and active lives. We also have a number of corporate commitments within our Council Plan, Climate Change Strategy and Biodiversity Plan to manage our land with nature in mind.
Local green spaces are incredibly important for the people in our communities and increasingly they are becoming a vital refuge for wildlife in our urban environments.
The latest State of Nature Report showed that 1 in 6 species in Wales are at risk of extinction. 66% of moths and 70% of butterflies are in long term decline. 7 species of bee have already gone extinct in Wales, and a further 5 species are at high risk of extinction. Almost one third of bumblebee species are in suffering major range contractions. This needs urgent and meaningful national and local action.
There are numerous studies which highlight the well-being and health benefits, from time spent in and around nature. By supporting nature within our urban green spaces we provide people with a greater opportunity to reap these benefits and experience nature themselves.
The results of this green space survey will help inform and guide our future action around publically accessible green spaces for nature and for people.
