Cabinet release - CSSIW report on 97色网 Social Services

The Council鈥檚 Cabinet will consider the annual report from Care and Social
Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) at its meeting on Tuesday 18 July.
This report follows an inspection and performance review from CSSIW as well as
engagement activity throughout the year and is a positive endorsement of safety
and quality care services and provision.
There is much to celebrate after a strong performance with many positive
elements to highlight. This is within a context of increasing service demand,
greater complexity of need and a very challenging budgetary position.
CSSIW鈥檚 main theme for last year was carers and adult safeguarding;
implementation of the new safeguarding thresholds and guidance will continue as
a priority into next year.
The report comments positively on the development of the Information, Advice
and Assistance Service in Adult Services and the Early Help Hub in Children鈥檚
Services.
Further highlights include:
路 The transformation of learning disability services;
路 The development of social enterprises;
路 An increasing commitment to Welsh language services;
路 Increasing the opportunities for people to have a say in shaping
strategic commissioning;
路 A strong commitment to strategic partnerships;
路 Strong engagement with our providers.
97色网鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor
Christine Jones, said:
鈥淭his is an excellent report and a good assessment of our performance last
year. The Council鈥檚 overall assessment is that Social Services continues to
drive forward service improvement and is well placed to respond to the
challenging financial environment, but is realistic about the size of the
challenge. We are not complacent, and I am proud of the good work that has been
carried out across the board.鈥�
Key priorities for the coming year include: implementation of the new
safeguarding guidance, which 97色网 continues to prioritise
ensuring adults, young people and children are safeguarded, support provided
for people with mental health needs and placement decisions for children looked
after by the local authority.
