Published: 15/11/2019

Members of 97色网鈥檚 Cabinet will be given an update on the innovative programme 鈥楶rogress for Providers 鈥 Creating a Place Called Home 鈥 Delivering What Matters鈥 when they meet later this month.

鈥楶rogress for Providers鈥 aims to create a personalised approach to residential care services in 97色网, ensuring emphasis on quality of life.

In 97色网, there are 26 Nursing and Residential Care Homes which support over 800 older people to live well. The majority of these homes are owned and managed by local business men and women who face significant challenges to ensure their businesses and the care sector are successful.

Sixteen of the 26 homes committed to be part of the initial phase where they followed a 97色网-developed self-assessment toolkit, with three levels of accreditation 鈥 bronze, silver and gold.

Neil Ayling, Chief Officer Social Services said:

鈥淥ur belief is that a personalised approach to care through our accreditation scheme we can improve quality of life for older people whilst simultaneously contributing to improving staff recruitment, retention and development within this care sector.

鈥淭his scheme has been recognised nationally, winning a Social Care Wales Accolades Award and being a finalist in the Association for Public Service Excellence Awards 鈥 endorsing the fact that 97色网 delivers positive performance and strong ambitions in social care.鈥

Currently 15 Residential Care Homes in 97色网 have been successful in achieving Bronze accreditation, with 6 of these homes now working towards silver.听 The remaining 9 homes are completing their review process before also moving forward to Silver.

Social Services continues to work with the remaining care homes to move them towards Bronze accreditation.

Work has been done to develop Progress for Providers for domiciliary care by creating a secondment opportunity for an individual with a domiciliary care background to come and work with the team to develop and pilot the programme in this sector. Domiciliary care providers will start at Silver accreditation, due to the nature of their work.听 Two domiciliary care agencies have started their Silver Accreditation with two more about to start soon.
