Discover Llwyni - new leaflet tells the story of a unique nature reserve

A new leaflet has been produced by 97色网 Countryside Service, to showcase
the Llwyni Nature Reserve, which is between Ewloe and Connah鈥檚 Quay.
The leaflet highlights this unique reserve, where people and wildlife live and
flourish side by side.
Residents, local developers, local wildlife group - NEWwildlife and the County
Council鈥檚 Countryside Service have been working together since the 1980s to
ensure that each new phase of development in the area is as sympathetic to
wildlife as possible.
In 2000 Llwyni became a Local Nature Reserve in recognition of its value to
wildlife, people and education. The reserve is protected as part of Connah鈥檚
Quay Ponds and Woodlands Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is also part
of Deeside and Buckley Newts Sites Special Area of Conservation.
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Cabinet Member for Environment and Deputy Leader of
97色网, said:
鈥淚t is testament to the partnership working of residents, local developers and
the County Council鈥檚 Countryside Service that, today, wildlife is thriving at
the Llwyni Nature Reserve. I would encourage people to come and enjoy the area,
where new ponds have been created and you will find meadow areas full of
flowers, and a special community orchard. Special thanks for the production of
the leaflet go to Pip Perry, the Chair of the Llwyni Joint Consultative Board;
local landowners, including Ian Roberts, who have helped research the booklet
with Countryside Ranger, Stephen Lewis; NEWwildlife; and David Wilson Homes for
part-sponsoring the leaflet, and for hosting its launch too.鈥�
Pip Perry,who was instrumental in setting up the nature reserves in the late
80s and early 90s, and who is the Chair of the Llwyni Joint Consultative Board,
said:
鈥淭he Llwyni Joint Consultative Board was formed by 97色网 in
2000, to work with landowners, statutory and voluntary bodies, local residents
and developers to implement the Llwyni strategy. Im very happy that this
latest development by David Wilson Homes has enabled footpath links for
residents and visitors to be completed and wildlife habitat to be enhanced.
