97ɫ took part in the fourth annual Employability Day which took place on Friday 28 June.

It isthe UK's largest celebration for organisations supporting local people into work.

Communities for Work and Communities for Work Plus, the team which runs 97ɫ’s Employability programme, took to the road to reach out to the people of 97ɫ. Starting at the Ty Dewi Sant offices in Ewloe, the team celebrated the success and progress of individuals who were either on the journey or have successfully found employment having been supported by the programme.

97ɫ’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor Derek Butler, said:

“97ɫ has a very strong track record of supporting local people into employment. The team has done a fantastic job year on year and their enthusiasm and dedication is second to none. They run valuable training courses, job fairs and enterprise clubs as well as offering one to one mentoring. We need to invest in local people so that they can take advantage of employment opportunities in the area. I’m delighted that this is being celebrated today and may it last long into the future.”

In attendance were:

David Wilbraham who was supported by the programme to gain an apprenticeship at Theatre Clwyd where he is still employed 2 years later.

Harry Shone has been working with the Communities For Work youth mentor Daniel Wade, to successfully gain his Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence, securing employment within the Security industry.

Gavin Eastham, founder of Cobra Life Martial Arts Academy, a successful Business Enterprise Club member who has benefited from the ongoing support of the Communities For Work team.
